Happy New Year!
As we enter 2019 we are grateful for the conversations, ideas, and emotions that have flowed through our various gatherings throughout 2018 and the support that many have found in these programs. We appreciate those who have supported our work of empowering women and families through volunteer hours, sponsorships, and donations of every kind. We have celebrated new life and transitions in the journey of parenthood and grieved those lives that have left our circle before we got to know them. We have supported new groups and programs taking shape to nourish the needs of our community, and continued to grow with those that have been active for many years. As we look ahead to 2019, we welcome the input of our community in shaping what we will plan for this year. We look forward to delving into such topics as raising resilient eaters, guiding children in their interactions with media, preparing for healthy natural childbirth, and of course sharing birth stories together. Our groups and programs will continue to run on their various monthly schedules, and we are glad to hear what topics all of you yearn to discuss together, and what needs our birthing and parenting community should be looking into supporting this year and beyond.

Play Group
Tuesday, January 8
Join Birth Circle member Maira and her children for an informal free play and socializing in the children’s section of the Athens Library every first Tuesday of the month, 3-5 pm. Due to the Holiday, the Play Group moved to the second week of January.
Loss Support Group
Thursday, January 3rd at 6:30 pm
Central Avenue Church, 73 Central Ave., Athens
If you are in need of support because of a pregnancy loss or the loss of your child, you are welcome to join us every first Thursday of the month for this support group. These meetings are free and facilitated by a professional social worker. All family members, such as grandparents, siblings, aunts, and uncles, as well as friends, are welcome. Childcare is provided.
Postpartum Support Group
Friday, January 4th from 2:30- 4:00 pm
Athens Library
There will be a Postpartum Support Group for Moms that are battling the blues, blah’s, and the super hard stuff. Those who wish to will have the opportunity to share their postpartum story and create a circle of mutual support with other Mamas who are struggling during this intense time. A representative from Hopewell Health will be available at the meeting in addition to mom – to – mom support. Please feel free to share this!
Mama Walks

Meet in the center of the mall from 5:45-6:00 pm, and we will walk from 6:00-7: 00 pm.
Join Birth Circle board member Leanne and her baby for a casual stroller walk in the mall. A great chance to meet new moms, socialize, and get a little exercise!

Jen Yoder-Clevidence is a registered dietitian nutritionist working at OU and will discuss The Art and Science of Raising a Competent Eater, nutrition for the whole family based on the work of Ellyn Satter.
Prepared Mommy Camp
We are pleased to announce the continuation of our Prepared Mommy Camp Program in 2019. The spring session will include March 9th, April 13th, May 11th, and June 8th. This Camp is geared toward providing birth and parenting education and community building with young Mamas age 23 and under, though when we do have extra space and are glad to include others as well. During January and February, we will be hosting an online baby shower for our Mamas, with an Amazon baby registry for those who wish to purchase one or more of the items we hope to provide to our participants. The registry can be found by searching “Prepared Mommy Camp” under “Find a baby registry” on Amazon. We deeply appreciate your support!

If you’ve just had a baby, if you are going through another type of transition in your family, or have experienced a loss, The Birth Circle is more than happy to organize a meal calendar to help support you.
